Tinashe Says She Regrets Doing Songs With Chris Brown & R. Kelly
Tinashe Kachingwe, the talented singer-songwriter known simply as Tinashe, has had her fair share of collaborations in the music industry. One notable collaboration was her guest appearance on R. Kelly's 2015 album The Buffet. However, Tinashe recently expressed deep regret about working with controversial artists such as R. Kelly and Chris Brown.
In a candid interview, Tinashe opened up about her feelings regarding her collaboration with R. Kelly. She revealed, "I literally block out that R. Kelly song from my mind. I forget that it even exists. That is so embarrassing. That is so unreal that I even have a song with R. Kelly. That’s so embarrassing." This heartfelt statement showcases the remorse and disappointment she feels towards this particular collaboration.
Interestingly, Tinashe explained that she didn't have much of a say in the matter. Being young and under the control of her record label at the time, she was not given the agency to choose who she collaborated with. This lack of control over her own artistic decisions added to her regret about the situation.
Another collaboration that Tinashe has expressed regret about is her song "Player" featuring Chris Brown. While many thought it would be a breakthrough moment for her, she revealed that she disagreed with the decision to include Chris Brown on the track.
Tinashe explained, "That was a song that we all wanted it to be this big moment, this big single. So I feel like, in their mind, they were like, ‘You need the support.’ C Breezy was their biggest artist that they had on rhythmic radio at the time. To me, I was like, ‘Well, this is a pop song. So, I really don’t feel like we should put Chris on it."
Tinashe's regrets about these collaborations highlight her growth and evolution as an artist. It takes courage to publicly acknowledge and address these choices, especially in an industry that often prioritizes popularity and chart success over personal values.
Tinashe's honesty serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of staying true to oneself and holding oneself accountable for the art we put out into the world.
