Proceeds were donated to charities.
Little did she know it at the time, but Cardi B turned a simple microphone into a nearly $100,000 charitable donation by simply throwing it at an unruly fan at her concert.
After the "WAP" rapper went viral for throwing his microphone angrily at a person in the audience at his performance at Drai's Beach Club on July 29 in Las Vegas, Scott Fisher - the owner of audio production company The Wave - put the gear on for auction on eBay. A week and 122 bids later, the microphone sold for $99,900.
A concert-goer later filed a report to the police alleging assault, claiming that she was "hit by an item that was thrown from the stage". Las Vegas police didn't mention Cardi by name when confirming a report had been filed, but the location of the alleged incident in the report matched the address of the venue the rapper was performing at.
The microphone-turned-weapon was originally listed at $500 on eBay, with Fisher previously telling TMZ that the microphone — which still works — was originally priced at $1,000. He added that proceeds from the sale will go to the Wounded Warrior Project and the nonprofit Friendship Circle Las Vegas, which helps children, teens and young adults with special needs.
