Cardi B Says She's Releasing Her Next Solo Single "Very Soon"


Today (Aug. 25), Vogue Mexico unveiled the cover of its September 2023 issue starring Cardi B. The Bronx-born rapper spoke on a myriad of subjects, including her Caribbean roots, the complexities of being a woman in rap, her foray into fashion, and much more.


In conversation with the publication, Cardi spoke about the growing anticipation for her next project. She said: “I will not be releasing any more collaborations, I will be releasing my next solo single. Right now I'm working on cover art and ideas for the next record because it's definitely on the way. Everyone always tells me I should release the record now.”


She added: "They did it when I released 'WAP' [featuring Megan Thee Stallion] and when I released 'Up', but I always tell them I'm not going to wait too long after all those singles. So stay tuned because it will be released soon. I also have plans in the world of cinema. In fact, I have plans to do as much as I can: fashion, branding… I want to do it all, honey.”


After the announcement was posted on her Instagram, support poured in from fans and celebrities alike. Ice Spice commented on heart and eye emojis, while Jason Lee, Ruby Rose and others congratulated the "Hot S**t" artist.


Elsewhere in the interview, Cardi spoke about working with designers like Thom Browne, Thierry Mugler, and Michael Kors. The musician noted, “I've always felt that being a black woman, and being someone who doesn't come from a wealthy family or not being a nepobaby, it's always going to be harder to get into the spaces that I want. be inside. But I'm grateful that my love of fashion has taken me to all these places.


She continued: “I pushed myself to the point where I was constantly sitting next to Anna Wintour and talking to her. It's an amazing thing. It's something that's in you, so when you do it right, you get rewarded.”
