According to TMZ, the model paid the $ 1,000 bond and was released. During the search, customs agents found a small amount of mar*juana, as well as smoking utensils in Gigi's luggage.
Gigi Hadid was arrested and charged with dr*g possession during a trip to the Cayman Islands, according to TMZ.
According to the publication, the model had boarded a private flight in the United States on July 10 and went through customs at Owen Roberts International Airport with her luggage. She arrived at Owen Roberts International Airport, where the CBC, a local Cayman Marl Road agency reported, discovered "ganja and utensils used for ganja consumption" after putting her bags through a scanner and hand-searching them.
Similar materials were found in the bags of Leah Nicole McCarthy, another member of Hadid's group, Cayman Marl Road reported. Both women were detained for “suspicion of Importation of Ganja and Importation of Utensils used for consumption of Ganja” and transported to the Prison Detention Centre.
They were released on bail and appeared in summary court on July 12, where they both pleaded guilty. Each was fined $1,000 and no convictions were recorded. Cayman Islands courts confirm to PEOPLE that Hadid and McCarthy were indicted in George Town but did not specify the charges.
A rep for Hadid told PEOPLE: "Gigi was traveling on legally purchased mar*juana in New York with a medical license. It's also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clean and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island. ."
Since the incident, Hadid and her friends have been relaxing in the sun on vacation, sharing photos and videos of their travels. On July 14, Hadid took to Instagram to show off two bikini pics, one of which included a massive (and massively fake) dragon tattoo on her leg.
Hadid commented on the black and white body art by writing in the caption "good morning!" with a green dragon emoji. She shared another look at the design via her Instagram Story, writing, "Am I in my dragon tattoo era girl?!"
Late on Tuesday, following the news of her arrest, Hadid took to Instagram to seemingly ignore what happened, sharing a carousel of photos and videos from her vacation. Alongside the bikini photos from her trip, she wrote, "All's well that ends well."
