Travis Scott was surprised after not being recognized in Japan.
Rapper Travis Scott became the butt of many jokes on social media this week after a video showed him walking down a street in Japan, without anyone approaching him to ask for an autograph or a photo. In the video we can see Scott walking back and forth wearing a hooded sweatshirt and jeans and not being recognized by anyone, while many people cross the street at the crosswalk. Soon after, he gives a smile and leaves surrounded by security guards.
An internet user had the video on Twitter this weekend. Travis Scott was surprised that no one knew him in Japan. he says lettering over a recording, which has since been viewed more than 3.8 million times. “This must be very embarrassing,” added the social media user in the post, without explaining when the footage was taken. Another person agreed: "The homie had a hood on and everything to make a big reveal, but it backfired." “Ok I love him but this is embarrassing,” said one fan. “The pause he takes before turning around and realizing nobody cares,” observed another.
In related news, Travis Scott has become the only rapper with 2 billion streams across all of his albums on Spotify. It's certainly an impressive feat for any rapper, but we can imagine he'll keep that momentum going when he decides to release "Utopia."
