Johnny Depp has won his defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard. The jury found Amber Heard defamed Johnny Depp in her 2018 Washington post article, alleging she was domestically abused by him. The jury of 5 men and 2 women reached the verdict unanimously saying Johnny Depp had proven all elements of defamation.
The verdict:
"As against Amber Heard, we the jury, award compensatory damages in the amount of 10.000.000 USD"
“As against Amber Heard, we the jury, punitive
damages in the amount of 5.000.000 USD"
The jury also found the majority of Ms. Amber
Heard’s allegations to be false, conveyed a defamatory implication, and were
made with actual malice. She was awarded 2.000.000 USD for one of her claims,
but Johnny Depp is to receive a total of 15.000.000 USD in damages.
Mr. Depp’s legal team says they are
enormously grateful to the jury for their verdict and it is a victory for truth
and justice.
