Third place in the second German league, Holstein Kiel leaves out the Bundesliga champion, all-powerful Bayern Munchen in the penalty shoot-out, after the 2-2 draw in regular game time and in extra time.
Hans-Dieter Flick's Bayern started the winning game, Serge Gnabry, opened the scoring on 14 minutes, Thomas Müller's pass, at 37 Holstein Kiel equaled, by Finn Bartels, with a good move by Jannick Dehm, but the champion germanic totally connected to the attack came back to advance in the marker putting itself to advantage, for Leroy Sané to 47.
When everything seemed to be resolved in the regular time of the game, Holstein player Kiel, Hauke Wahl returned to equalize in the last minutes of compensation, after the assistance of Van den Bergh, forcing extra time.
Bayern dominated extra time, countering an opponent's goal, but there were no more goals and the result remained the same, 2-2 draw. In deciding the penalty shootout, the young Spanish midfielder from Bayern Marc Roca missed the sixth shot allowing the defense of Greek goalkeeper Ioannis Gelios.
